EUROPE: GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES

Its borders are the Ural Mountains, the Arctic Ocean, the North Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea.

Europe is considered a 'peninsula of peninsulas' as it is surrounded by water on all sides except one and it is comprised by several peninsulas as well such as the Scandinavian, Kola, Jutland, Iberian, Italian and Balkan peninsulas.

The most important islands in Europe are Iceland, British Isles, Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Malta, Crete and Cyprus.


The greatest rivers in Europe are Guadalquivir, Tajo, Ebro, Loire, Seine, Thames, Rhone, Rhine, Elbe, Po, Oder, Vistula, Danube, Dniepper and Volga.

The greatest mountain ranges are the Pyrenees, the Alps, Apennines, Dinaric Alps, Carpathian Mountains, Balkan Mountains, Scandinavian Mountains, Ural Mountain and Caucasus.

The highest peaks are Teide, Mulhacén, Aneto, Mont Blanc, Etna, Elbrus and Mount Olympus.
